Do failing students deserve another chance? Many parents wonder about the number of second chances their kids deserve. When it comes to their kids’ education, and school work specifically, the question is “Why does a kid need a second, third, fourth, fifth or tenth chance?”
From my experience, having strict policies with little consideration to a student who is trying to correct their behavior leads to “why bother.”
But what exactly are second chances? Is it an opportunity to turn in assignments at the last minute? Are we coddling students when we give them extra credit? Do second changes help or hurt student growth?
