Taking a look at Ruzwana Bashir’s resume, you might think she was born into a lifestyle of unlimited opportunity. Educated at Oxford and Harvard Business School, she had an education on par with that of the wealthiest families in the world. However, everything that Ruzwana has accomplished is due to her own steely work ethic.

When an investor passed on the chance to fund Peek, Ruzwana’s travel experience company which recently raised $40 million in capital, he told her it was because he didn’t know if she had “the grit” to make it in entrepreneurship. From then on she changed her goal from being professional to being authentic. The experiences she had growing up in an immigrant family, selling vegetables to make ends meet, working to get full scholarships to fund her education, all cultivated within Ruzwana the perseverance, grace and gratitude that has made her the successful entrepreneur she is today.
