18-vuotiaat Suzy Streeter ja Stacy McCall olivat muiden high schoolista valmistuvien tapaan juhlimassa päättäjäisiltana kesäkuussa vuonna 1992. Pitkälle yöhön venyneen juhlinnan jälkeen tytöt päättivät lähteä nukkumaan Suzyn kotiin, jossa hänen äitinsä Sherill Levitt oli viettänyt rauhallista iltaa yksin. Kun Suzyn ja Stacyn ystävä yritti seuraavana päivänä tavoitella tyttöjä, ei kummastakaan kuulunut mitään. Pian selvisi, että kaikki kolme, Suzy, Stacy ja Sherill olivat mystisesti kadonneet rauhallisella alueella sijaitsevasta omakotitalosta yön aikana. Lähes 30 vuotta myöhemmin tapaus on edelleen Springfieldin kaupungin suurin rikosmysteeri.
