The Braves looked in control, ready to set up a sweep of the defending champion Dodgers. Then a 3 run homer tied the game and the go ahead run scored, giving the Dodgers new life.
Meanwhile the Astros tied the Red Sox in the 8th. A blown strike call opened the flood gates but the Red Sox bats betrayed them long before the 9th.
So two teams on the brink of disaster dusted themselves off at the 8th inning mark. And two teams could be left wondering if they blew they chances to win.
