Growing up on the Eastside of Chicago, Kayla attended high school and participated in after-school programs, including the youth program "True Star Media."
This program played a significant role in her childhood, nurturing her passion and allowing her to shine.
Despite focusing on her education, Kayla never neglected her love for filmmaking.
While pursuing a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Mass Communication at Gambling State University, she was presented with an opportunity that would feed her passion and set her on the path to becoming the successful woman she is today.
