Andy Buchanan set a new National Record, running 2:06:22 at the Valencia Marathon, placing 16th overall. Izzi Batt-Doyle ran 2:22:59 for third all time, 8th in the race. Both qualify for next year’s Athletics World Championship in Tokyo.

Sebastian Sawe in his marathon debut won in a world leading time of 2:02:05, the 5th fastest of all time and second fastest debut ahead of the 5th-placed Olympian Deresa Galeta of Ethiopia and Daniel Mateko of Kenya.
Megertu Alemu of Ethiopia won in 2:16:49, ahead of Stella Chesang setting the national record for Uganda and Tiruye Mesfin of Ethiopia.
Victorian 5000m State Championships Matt Buckell 13:49.46 Haftu Strintzos and Dale Carroll. Amy Robinson won the state title in 16:10.77 ahead of Sarah Klein and Georgia Hansen.
Yuya Yoshida won the Fukuoka International Marathon in 2:05:16 in Japan, with Michael Marantelli was the best Australian in 2:21:02. Jack Rayner paced half way through to 62:57.
Sifan Hassan was awarded overall Women’s World Athlete of the Year, as well as best Out of Stadium athlete. Tamirat Tola was awarded best Out of Stadia Athlete for 2024.
