-7-25 Markets Are Fishing for a Bottom

Markets are starting to respond to the tariff war, with some exchanges banning short-selling for a period (Thai Stock Exchange Bans Short-Selling from 4/8 - 4/11) as worry grows about the magnitude of tariffs. Don't forget, there ARE "circuit breakers" in place, and markets will just shut down if things get out of control. Markets are very over sold on multiple levels. We're currently sitting at about 50% retracement as of Friday's close, and this morning will challenge the 62% retracement. Normally, between 50 and 60% retracement is where markets typically find their bottom. Markets are very over sold on a relative strength basis, and very over sold on a momentum basis (which is not surprising); markets are at levels where they push extremes. Bond, on the other hand, are very over bought, and have been working well through all the turmoil. Now might be a good time to take profits if you're trading bonds. What ever rally we get will likely be short=lived.
