After a few unavoidable setbacks, Nathan and Eric have decided to forego their usual awkwardly named puntastic monthly theme to cover a couple of one-off films and prep for our coverage of the Chattanooga (Virtual) Film Festival at the end of the month. We kick off tonight's episode with some juicy CFF announcements before diving into our review of the long-lost George A. Romero film, THE AMUSEMENT PARK (1973); a surreal PSA highlighting the social and systemic abuse faced by elderly Americans in the United States. The Lutheran Society that hired Romero to make the film were so disturbed by the film’s content that they shelved it indefinitely, leading to its now mythic status in the filmmaker’s canon. Thankfully, a badly damaged 16mm print was discovered in 2017 and, after a painstaking restoration process, the film has finally been released to the public via Shudder almost 50 years after its original production. So grab your tickets, hold tight to that pocket watch, and watch your step when you leave the White Room and join us at THE AMUSEMENT PARK.
