Why do advertising creatives hire their director? Is it that first call or zoom? How important is the treatment? Well, as we wrapped two fantastic, safe days on set, I asked Creative Directors Rich Terry and Matt Mowat those exact questions. They gave me an impromptu interview in the back of my Cadillac. When Cinematographer Shane Kelly ("Boyhood") walked by, we grabbed him into the conversation. Rich, a talented copywriter, has directed hundreds of spots himself, so his point of view on how filmmakers get hired is well-informed to say the least. Matt, an art director at heart, hired me for one of my first national spots back in another century, so you know he has great taste.
I'm fortunate to work with such a great team, and happy to snag them each and grateful for this inside knowledge.

My cult classic mockumentary film, "Dill Scallion" is online for rent and I'm giving 100% of the gross money raised to St. Jude Children's Hospital, in fact I'll match it. Roger Ebert called it "The country music 'This is Spinal Tap'" so that sums it up. All star cast and a great cause.
