In today's episode I want to talk about my experience with one of the gateway works towards a broader contemporary music repertoire. This work is "Alone" by the Finnish composer Erkki Jokinen's "Alone", written in 1979 for Matti Rantanen.

On this episode I briefly present the composer and then dive into different tips and tricks, as well as mental images, which Matti Rantanen and Stefan Hussong taught me at a masterclass in Rome in 2013. I am not a musicologist, nor am I a composer, but I hope thiese tips will help those who want to approach this famous work.

In the last part of the episode you will hear a recording of my performance of "Alone" for this year's Festival Meridian in Bucharest. If you haven't seen the concert, you can do so by clicking on this link.
