James arrived at The Bay County Jail (Panama City) around Thanksgiving of 1993. Although the conditions were better than the Jail in Monticello, he said it was very depressing to be overlooking the Bay and seeing all the folks on Vacation. They put him on the top floor with the worst of the worst criminals, and those guys prepped James for Prison. James says most of the guys were genuinely concerned for his well being, and worried that he wouldn’t survive. They taught him all the strategies to make it on the inside. Thankfully, there was a group of “Old Timer’s” that counseled him day after day for hours on end to get him ready. In this episode James explains to Haley what they taught him to do, not to do, and how important it was to choose his words carefully because in there, different words meant different things. Haley was especially amused by the word “Boy” in Prison. They gave him wisdom and practical advice that would help him survive what was coming next. In this episode he explains it all in great detail to Haley.
