James realizes his business has hit a wall… to keep growing, he would have to add a second location. In a Facebook post on the Kairos Kafe Page, he asked “If Kairos were to open a 2nd location, should we go North, South, East, or West of Birmingham?” The post exploded, and the stats increased 948% in favor of one location… Gardendale. The Birmingham News published a front page article on the idea, The Mayor of Gardendale publicly invited James to tour the city, and the people went crazy about the idea… the road to opening day was rocky, and the business was booming! James recounts one of the best team members he ever recruited, a fiery redhead named Denise Nolen, and settled in to a small house off of Pecan Avenue. He felt like he’d come full circle to his Southern Roots, and fell in love with the City of Gardendale and the people… A few weeks later, he approached his Manager at the cashier stand, and asked where the nearest Kinko’s was because he had to fax some documents to his bank… When she informed him that the area didn’t have a Kinko’s, the young woman checking out spoke up “You can use the fax machine at my office!
