This week we are honored to have as our guest Representative Suzan DelBene (D-WA), with whom Jerry and Jody discuss the first major privacy bill introduced in the House in the 117th Congress, the Information Transparency and Personal Data Control Act (HR 1816). Introduced by Rep. DelBene along with an impressive list of co-sponsors, HR 1816 has been endorsed by a number of associations. The bill reflects her view that we need national privacy legislation to avoid an unworkable patchwork of state laws and to allow the United States to have a seat at the international table as privacy and data protection policies are being created.

Rep. DelBene represents Washington's first congressional district, coming to Congress in 2012 after more than two decades of experience as a successful technology entrepreneur and business leader, including 12 years at Microsoft. She currently serves as Chair of the New Democrat Coalition and Vice Chair of the House Committee on Ways and Means.
