Amna Al Haddad is Ted X speaker, first Arab hijabi competitive weightlifter, Mental Health Advocate, Inspirational Speaker and Writer from the UAE.

Amna openly shares the struggles that she faced during the follow up of major sporting events. Despite the injuries, lack of equipment and difficulty finding sponsors as a young Arab female in the Emirates, Amna built a solid character and pursued her dreams against all odds.

She courageously shares how her perception had changed since she last spoke at Ted x in 2011 at a time she believed she was overweight. As a mental health advocate she speaks by sharing her journey in hope that people relate and take charge of their own life. For her inspiring mental health talks, Amna won the Prestigious award, Rosalynn Carter Fellowship for Mental Health for Journalism. She helpfully shares her expert knowledge in sports and explains that if you make sure your technique is right from the beginning it will enable maximum performance development.
