Do you have preconceived ideas of what repentance is and what it involves? Maybe you picture a man on the street corner yelling, “repent”! Or maybe repentance has been misused as a way of shaming you out of sin or even into salvation. If that’s the case, I’m truly sorry. Repentance is actually such restorative process. It is a gift.

True repentance is when we get to the end of ourselves and recognize our need for Jesus. Repentance comes when we have an awareness of our sin, of God’s holiness and our need for Jesus to reconcile those. It is a rejection of sin and a turning away from what the world offers us.

Finally, it is not harsh criticism or guilt that leads us to healthy repentance. It is the kindness and love of God that draws us into that awareness of our need for Him.

Let’s correct our understanding of repentance together. Join us for Ep. 33 of The Resilient Podcast where we dig in.
