Rand and Mat are on the run, on their own, and there is literally danger waiting to pounce from every direction. Sleep deprivation and paranoia take hold, but Rand is determined to hold on to the hope that the others are still alive...maybe even Thom. On the road this week Rand squirms under the attention of a Miss Else Grinwell, Mat angry juggles, the boys are saved by lightning, and the layer of their innocence has begun to erode like a sand castle in rain. There are moments of hope and a heartwarming depth of friendship displayed between the two young men as they take care of each other in these dire moments.
As usual, the first half is spoiler free and the second half is more theories that lean on spoilers in the later series.
