Today I'm sharing what I've learned about Tolerance and how I use it as a measurement for my personal growth.
First let's look at a definition of tolerance:
'the ability or willingness to tolerate something, in particular the existence of opinions or behavior that one does not necessarily agree with' - Dictionary.com
This common take on tolerance reinforces our collective belief that what we have to tolerate is outside of ourselves.
But what I've found is what we actually have to tolerate is how we feel about what's outside of ourselves. When we look at it this way we take our power back + become at cause for what our experience in this growth opportunity gets to be.
I use a (very vulnerable) personal example for how I've learned to move through the growth process of Tolerance.
I share that when I learned to stay with what was - my circumstances - and learned to tolerate how I felt this was my growth edge.
Today I am choosing to change my circumstances and will learn how to tolerate a new growth edge.
To know where you're at and where you get to lean into growth tolerance ask yourself the following:
> How does creating more tolerance for this support the growth I desire? and > How does tolerating this take away from the growth I desire?
Remember it's ALWAYS up to you.
