How many stories have we lost due to our limited lens of what constitutes “history”? There is so little we are told and taught about women’s lives. Yet despite tremendous efforts to erase women's stories, they do exist, and my guest on this episode has dedicated more than 50 years of her life to building an impressive visual record of our global past. Max Dashu is the founder of the Suppressed Histories Archives,an incredible resource for gaining a true global perspective of women’s history. In creating the Archives, Max has amassed more than 40,000 images from the global cultural record which she has woven into hundreds of talks on female cultural heritage. On today's episode, we discuss the well-documented connection between women and the sacred, the tremendous cultural forces that have suppressed our stories, and how reclaiming our history can help us visualize a more just and equitable world.
