Lilith, the mythical first wife of Adam from the Judeo-Christian tradition, has been described repeatedly as a seductive, murdering demon who steals innocent children in the night. But there’s another way to know her – as a powerful, fearless Goddess, as a woman deeply committed to her own truth, and perhaps even the world’s first feminist. On today’s episode, author, educator and scholar Monette Chilson introduces us to this incredible Goddess and shares with us how her relationship with Lilith has offered her liberation and permission to live life on her own terms. Monette is the author of “My Name is Lilith”, a children’s book that re-examines the story of the Goddess Lilith through a feminist lens, editor of the Girl God Books anthology “Original Resistance: Reclaiming Lilith, Reclaiming Ourselves” and author of its companion “Lilith Circle Guide” for group study. In partnership with Girl God Books, Monette is also leading a community learning initiative, Lessons in Lineage, with its first teaching series focused on embracing the wisdom of Lilith.
