Today's storyteller is Dr Joanna Sumner! She is the Manager of Genetic Resources at Museums Victoria in Melbourne, Australia. She's also a self described "flick falling herpetologist" and tune in because asking what that means was my very first question in this episode! Today we talk about the work she does, what that work even is, the kind of collections they have, about bio banks, and I ask too many questions about liquid nitrogen because I'm a nerd. I was really interested to hear about these genetic collections, how they're managed, what type of research they're used for, and it just seems like such a valuable resource. Also, Joanna and I are both in the 5th cohort of the Homeward Bound program (aka HB5) so we also talk a bit about that too - how she heard about it, why she was interested and applied, and what she hopes to get out of the program once we complete it!
