Dr Amjad Saqib is the founder of Akhuwat, the world’s largest Islamic micro-financing organization. He is a development practitioner and a philanthropist who joined the Civil Service of Pakistan (DMG) in 1985 and served in senior positions in the Government of the Punjab. He resigned from Civil Service in 2003 with the intent to dedicate himself to becoming a social entrepreneur and make a difference through Akhuwat.

The vision of Akhuwat is A Poverty-Free Society built on the principles of compassion and equity. Since 2001, Akhuwat has been working for poverty alleviation by empowering socially and economically marginalized segments of the Pakistani society through its various poverty alleviation projects.
