Welcome back to the Grow Your Self podcast. I’m so excited to have my wonderful guest Jill McSheehy, she is here from the Beginner's Garden Podcast. Jill has been in the podcast world much longer than me, she lives in Arkansas and has been gardening since 2013. Jill fell in love with gardening and it became her passion.

Jill wanted to do something to help other people start growing their own gardens and be able to find information at a more basic level. That's why she started the Beginners Garden podcast to try to help people to find that basic beginner gardening information so that they could have the great experience of growing their own food.

In this episode we will discuss:

  • How okra got started in the US and it’s history.
  • Tips on how you can grow it yourself based on your seasonal climate.
  • Food fight between okra and the other summer superstar, sweet potatoes
