'The more you have to protect, the weaker you become, thats why everyone and everything around you cant be a liability; - By Dencia Creating boundaries with your family especially in a culture laced in religion often creates  division and a choice, a choice between your peace and showing up in a culture that will tell you your mental health cannot be more important than your family.  The first daughter especially in the African culture i belong too  comes with a burden of responsibility that you are born into. Your identity  becomes the first born daughter and removes the person and stripes you of you individuality, you show up for your duty a duty your younger siblings then expect. As we evolve and grow into adulthood the structure of the home that becomes  the foundation is removed and adult siblings now make a choice to forge relationships and a further choice of forging healthy relationships such relationships require boundaries.
