The truth is, there is no such thing as the wrong person. Every potential partner is the exact person you need to uncover who you are beneath all the masks you had to create to cope with life's challenges.
“When the student is ready the teacher will appear. When the student is truly ready... the teacher will disappear.” - Lao Tzu.
In other words, every potential partner will be your perfect mirror - the Ying to your Yang. The light to your dark. You will be the light to their dark. Instead of looking at this as an opportunity to grow, most of us just avoid it because it is hella uncomfortable! We spend our whole life avoiding our darkness, so when it comes to the darkness within others, naturally it overwhelms us.
When you do embark on your inner journey of healing and self-discovery, you will notice that you are drawn to people who resemble aspects of you. Aspects of you that you love and hate, aspects of you that you have suppressed to cope with your past. But no more - with awareness, comes power.
People are your greatest gift and your greatest teacher, even those that are hard to love. Seek to understand them and have compassion for who they are and for who they are not. BUT if you struggle to do that, it simply shows you how you show up for your darkness, which is beautiful to even become aware of. Alhamdullilah!
Do the work on you and watch how your partner, your family, and your friends will either grow with you or grow apart from you.
