Wetwang Slack is home to one of the largest Iron Age cemeteries in the UK. Every burial lies beneath a square barrow, a unique and strange structure. Some of those strange inhumations were weirder than your average square barrow, they were chariot burials. This episode focuses on the rise of hierarchy and chiefs in the middle Iron Age. We talk about warfare, theories of power and the patchwork quilt of cultures that defined Iron Age Britain. Next episode: Lindow Man & Human sacrifice. ***Talk to me: [email protected]---Support me at Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/bonesandstuff---Join the community on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/oldbonespodcast ---Keep up to date on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/oldbones_podcast/---oldbones.co.uk
