On June 8, 2020, a damning photo of Adam Rapoport in brownface emerged, but Rapoport stepping down as Bon Appétit’s Editor in Chief was only the beginning. In the following days, Sohla El-Waylly, Priya Krishna, Rick Martinez, and many more current and former BIPOC staff blew the lid off inequity and racial discrimination run rampant at Bon Appétit and Condé Nast.

In this episode, we recap this past week’s events in detail, including the whirlwind of statements, apologies, exposés, social media posts, and fan reactions that resulted. Plus we ask ourselves: What does this mean for the future of BA, and for the future of Pod Appétit?
