Covid 'hate crimes' against Asian Americans continue to rise. New analysis found a 164% increase in reports of anti-Asian hate crimes in the first quarter of 2021 compared with the same period last year. In this episode, Angie and her parents head to Annapolis Maryland to join Governor Larry Hogan, his wife Yumi and daughter Jaymi Sterling for a candid conversation being Asian American in America. Like Angie’s mom Yumi Hogan is a first generation Korean American. The Hogan’s talk about about feeling the impact of the anti-Asian hate during the pandemic. Both families open up about personal and painful experiences. They discuss why this racism may be hard for others to see and how to engage in dialogue and activism to help a community that is really scared right now and hurting.
