In this new episode of Sartorial Talks, the Podcast, Hugo and Sonya share their admiration for three style icons and ask the question: why when we speak of style icons, we most of the time refer to men of the 1930s and 1940s and not to men of today? Is it simply a question of clothing? Film stars of the ‘golden age’ of Hollywood were actually never revered for their dress alone. Fred Astaire, Gary Cooper, and Cary Grant were, and still are, eulogised for what they represented, which was often a moral integrity or an aversion to excess, of which their dress was a key signifier. An episode recorded live from Bourgogne France.
