Graeme Park is a DJ that defined the sound of house music in the UK through his residency at the legendary Hacienda in Manchester. Honing his selector instincts by working in record shops in his youth, it was when the owner of one such shop bought a club, and twisted his arm to play there as a DJ, that he discovered his passion for entertaining a crowd from behind the decks. A fan of all genres, it was his eclectic sets with a sprinkling of this new sound called house that put him on the radar of Hacienda resident Mike Pickering – who asked Graeme to cover for him whilst he went away on holiday. The gig proved such a success that a partnership between the two was formed, the echoes of which can still be felt across dancefloors to this day. Still very active on the scene, in this chat the beloved ‘Parkie’ takes us through his entire career up until now as well as gives his thoughts on the future of the scene.
