Today, on a special bonus episode, a Theonomist and a NCT guy walk into a bar. A few minutes later, some good old fashioned alehouse apologetics breaks out.

In this special bonus episode of the ThinkPod, you'll listen in to an after-hours conversation between Joel Settecase and Peter Boland of 5 Solas Studios. The two have theological disagreement over particular issues (Joel is a New Covenant Theologian, and Peter is a Theonomist), but both are fully committed to the truth of God's word, and the necessity of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.

At the recent Cruciform Conference, the two men had vigorously debated theology, and then after the conference they sat down to record an episode on brotherly unity for the 5 Solas Studios podcast. Afterward, they stopped by an alehouse somewhere in Indianapolis. As they started hanging out, Joel hit record on his phone and hit record, just in case the conversation turned out to be worth sharing.

And something really incredible happened. Early on in their conversation, they had both agreed that, despite their disagreements, if an atheist were to come in and start challenging the truth of the Christian message, they would both immediately join forces and defend the truth, sharing the Gospel, in lock-step. As it turned out, that is exactly what happened.

As you'll hear at the 14:30 mark, a man approached them, as if drawn to them, and conveyed that he had heard what they were talking about.

First, the man said he thought it was wonderful that they were talking about the Bible, etc. However, as they talked and took the conversation outside, the truth came out: he was opposed to God, and he did not believe in Jesus. He also shared some difficult details from his life.

You'll hear what happened next in this very special bonus episode of the Think Pod. This is a real-life evangelistic conversation between two Christians and a non-believer. It's been edited for content and to make the flow of the story more coherent for the podcast format.

In the end, they hope that Jesus was glorified, and that the truth would stick.

A quick note on the conclusion: the recording cuts out at the end. Here's what transpired afterward: in all, the three talked for about 40 minutes. After Joel presented the Gospel, the man said he believed in a supreme being, but not the God of the Bible. Joel said that a "supreme being" didn't die for his sins, but that the true God did (Joel let his Calvinism slip there, in light of the doctrine of Particular Redemption/Limited Atonement). Peter pressed him with the truth that he really did know God, and he had antipathy toward him. He ultimately got fed up, and after Joel and Peter reminded him that he approached them (not the other way around), Mike left, got into his car and drove away. If you're a believer, please pray for this man—that his eyes would be opened to the truth of the Gospel, and that he would find forgiveness and peace in Jesus.
