Our chats will be just that very conversational, not entirely sensible and with any luck totally enjoyable. Now I’m certain if you’re a regular listener of the show you know 9 times outta ten I’m a super fan of the guest. Truth be told it’s one of the perks of having your own broadcast getting an hour on air to talk with and celebrate people you admire does a heart good. What’s rarer however is a guest who I’ve been a fan of since they were knee-high to a grasshopper – of course, not everyone is the daughter of two mega award-winning world-renowned fiddlers. Now at the tender age of 19, after hundreds and hundreds of shows to hundreds of thousands of fans all around the planet it’s fair to say she can hold her own and then some and whether she’s touring with the entire family or flying solo you can be sure she’s wowing the crowds with her playing and her dancing and even more recently her compositions. She’s even released her debut album full of the most amazing original music – entitled FIRST LIGHT. Oh, she’s the real deal alright and we’ll get into all of that and so much more – including her process for composing and how it feels to have her parents Natalie MacMaster and Donnell Leahy record one of her tunes for their album. We’ll also chat about her stellar style, her social media skills and what it’s like being the oldest of seven siblings. Plus we’ll play our new game THE FIRST WORD, engage in an enlightening round of INsights IN 10 and naturally spin as many of her tremendous tunes as we can within the hour. So with all that ahead we best get to it here’s my conversation with the one and only Mary Frances Leahy.
We played some wonderful music on the show today and all the tunes are available on iTunes. To add a copy to your collection just click on the title – “Cheerio,”“First Light,”and “Silhouette Lebert”by Mary Frances and “Choo Choo”by Natalie MacMaster & Donnell Leahy
Be sure to watch the reel where Mary Frances helps her brother play the fiddle – click here or on the pic to see that.
