“I'm a distance trail runner, or used to be, and that was the main sport that I pursued and was my passion. And the doctors and therapists all say that it's not a matter of if I will be able to run again because they said I would be able to. However, if I continued at the pace or distances I was prior to the injury, I'm a likely if not definite candidate for either osteoarthritis or a full knee replacement later in my life. I've been kind of weighing the inevitability of this and wondering how to proceed with or without running when I'm recovered? Do I go all in if I can, and if it doesn't hurt, and enjoy myself now? Or do I back off and maybe pursue some other sports with the mix of running here and there and try to preserve the longevity of my knee?

This week, co-host and mental skills coach Carrie Jackson answers a question from listener Claire C. How does Carrie suggest she think about the future, and weigh the emotional consequences of either choice?
