Welcome To Another Episode Of The Decoding Purpose Podcast.
Over the last few weeks, I have spoken to quite a few of my friends in Melbourne where Covid has very much hit Australia the hardest. I am lucky to say that my friends and colleagues are incredibly smart humans with all of the skills available to self care and manage their energy state, yet even for them, the last few weeks have been so much harder than anyone could have anticipated. There is frustration, anger and exhaustion. I have no doubt that this same emotion is being experienced in many places all over the world as we speak. Some refer to this as the ‘silent pandemic’.
That is why in today's episode I wanted to bring my focus towards our wellbeing, especially the preventive management of our mental health, because even if we are not living in Melbourne, we are all living in a world where the pressures of uncertainty in our personal and professional lives are playing out every touch point.
And this is the exact reason I wanted to invite onto the podcast the incredible duo behind ‘The Healthy Minds Program’ Nick Lee, and Tom Nehmy. To give you some background, Healthy Minds is the world's first psychological skills program demonstrated to prevent the onset of symptoms of depression and anxiety while also reducing risk for eating disorders. It teaches the specific skills associated with emotional wellness and resilience.
The product is a result of 4 years of intensive research, by Tom who is an award-winning Australian psychologist. The Healthy Minds Program allows everyone to learn how to develop – and maintain – a healthy, balanced, emotional life, and to be at their best regardless of external circumstances. And never before have these tools been more important.
What I loved about today's conversation was the flow between Tom's incredible expertise as a psychologist and Nick's real life experience. Nick was faced with one of life's hardest challenges losing his wife to cancer. With that in mind, this is an interview with both credibility and depth, but also a good dose of truth telling around the reality of life when life gets tough.
So kick back, and get ready to ignite your well being with Nick Lee and Tom Nehmy.
