She has hundreds of acting credits on stage and in film and television, and a formidable body of television directing work. She is an Academy Award winner and three-time nominee. She has fourteen Emmy nominations and two wins. She is a Tony Award nominee. An Obie Award winner. She has two Golden Globes Awards. Two Screen Actors Guild Awards. Two BAFTA nominations. There is no acting challenge she has not met and mastered. For the past several years, Bates has served as a Spokesperson for the Lymphatic Education and Research Network (LE&RN). LE&RN is an internationally recognized non-profit organization founded in 1998 to fight lymphatic diseases and lymphedema through education, research and advocacy.
