Mr. Sonny James has had an illustrious career as a DJ, writer, producer, videographer and actor. Formerly known as DJ Statik, he is the co-founder of Philly’s Illvibe Collective, he’s toured all over the world as the official tour DJ for independent hip hop legends Bahamadia and J-Live and was even invited to the White House to DJ for President Obama. Today, the LA-based Sonny James handles artist relations for Serato.
In this conversation, Sonny James breaks down the love/hate relationship Philly crowds have with artists, the early Hollertronix parties with Diplo and Lowbuget, and how pursuing his passion led to relocating his family from Philly to sunny Los Angeles.
