About Rwenshaun

Rwenshaun Miller was the all-star athlete, the smartest kid in his class, and his parent’s hope for great success, in the classic sense of doctor or lawyer. It took a sports injury while playing on his college football team that kept him benched in his college dorm room to reveal the shaky ground he stood on by living up to the expectations of others and not yet knowing his own. Rwenshaun’s sudden loss of identity led to his not sleeping or eating for weeks and eventually to hearing voices in his head and a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder 1. It took a few years of being on and off medication, struggling with letting go of his superhuman status, and 3 failed suicide attempts and finding a Black therapist, for him to recognize how deeply he needed to release shame around his diagnosis, just express his feelings and support others in the Black community to do the same in order to heal. Today, Rwenshaun works as a Psychotherapist and Mental Health Change Agent. Trying to help people who were in the same position he was once in.
