Rob welcomes you to another fascinating discussion, this time centred around the concept of risk, and what it means to us as individuals?

How much something means to you, in terms of outcome, can determine the level of risk we are willing to take in order to achieve it. But can we influence those factors through mindset or will power? Is this the secret behind the great risks in history, or the decisions made by those we look up to?

In this week's insightful episode Rob discusses risk and all its many implications.

KEY TAKEAWAYS

  • Risk comes in many forms: financial, business or relationships. What is your risk aversion? How sure can you be that risks are worth taking?
  • The level of risk you are willing to take is directly proportionate to the connection we have between ourselves and the subject of the risk.
  • We spend our entire childhoods being steered away from risk, and our adult lives trying to develop a healthy relationship with it. Only by taking risks and stepping out, can we leave the island of safety.
  • We should always be prepared to be crucified for the decisions we make. If you want to achieve something meaningful, you have to step out of your comfort zone.
  • A truth held inside can fester and turn into a pent-up emotion, that if unleashed, can produce a tirade. We need to vent our truths often, or this dangerous situation can occur.
  • The things that we want must consume us. We must need them as much as we need to breathe air. Only by viewing our goals in this way can we truly know ourselves, and understand the things we are willing to risk in order to reach them.
