Janell Hazelwood has built her knack with communications, audience development, and media leadership via more than 15 years of media experience working at companies including The New York Times, Conde Nast, and Black Enterprise. As an award-winning editor and journalist, she has managed networks of content producers and contributors across coverage areas including Beauty, Career, Tech, Small Business, and Lifestyle; helmed media strategy that has led to a more than 70% increase in traffic and reader engagement; and managed successful campaign initiatives with companies including Lexus, AT&T, IBM and PEPSI.
As a content producer and editor, she has covered Career, Tech, Business, Women's Issues, and Lifestyle, and interviewed top industry leaders including Russell Simmons, Magic Johnson, Star Jones, Venus Williams, and many more. She's interviewed Fortune 500 executives for both digital and magazine features, and I have launched successful print and digital content packages across channels and content areas. She has also hosted red-carpet interviews and produced video event coverage for publication.
As a consultant, she has helped minority and female entrepreneurs and nonprofit founders use dynamic storytelling and strategic social media management to increase clients and/or customers, expand their reach, and build greater, more authentic impact in their industries. She has a passion for seeing minority and women entrepreneurs win---whatever "winning" looks like for them.
