When a Stranger Calls (1979)- "Have you checked the children?" Based on an urban legend about a babysitter getting some disturbing phone calls (and clearly the inspiration for the beginning of Scream) this film goes for a real, gritty cat and mouse chase for an escaped lunatic killer - with great performances and some legit thrills.
