In this episode, Michelle and Christina are sitting at the table with Phil Allen Jr. to talk about his documentary film, “Open Wounds: A Story of Racial Tragedy, Trauma, and Redemption. Phil Allen, Jr. is a Ph.D. candidate at Fuller Theological Seminary where he is a Pannell Center for Black Church Studies Fellow. As an emerging ethicist and theologian his research integrates Black Church theology and praxis, understanding and healing racial trauma, and theology and ethics of justice and racial solidarity. He pastored for thirteen plus years and is now a speaker, author, poet and a documentary film producer.

His short film Open Wounds premiered in Los Angeles in January 2020. He also authored his first solo book, Open Wounds: A Story of Racial Tragedy, Trauma, and Redemption. As a former personal trainer and Division I college athlete he has a passion for mentoring college and professional athletes. He enjoys being a guest chaplain for college, and professional sports teams. He is the founder and president of the non-profit Racial Solidarity Project.
