Easter rises from its grave once again as we move onto the second coming of our EASTER: RESURRECTION!!! series where we examine horror movies that have nothing to do with Easter but also TOTALLY represent certain aspects of the holiday… you know, because we said so. This time around, Nathan and Eric will be looking at the way Christianity appropriated the pagan festival heralding the arrival of Spring to instead celebrate the “new life” found in Christ’s sacrifice and subsequent resurrection. The Apostle’s Creed states that Jesus was “crucified, dead, and buried.” So, naturally, we turn our attention to Gary Sherman’s DEAD AND BURIED (1981), a film where visitors of the sleepy coastal town of Potter’s Bluff have a tendency to be brutally murdered and reanimated to serve out a life (or death?) sentence as one of the town’s seemingly pleasant residents. So grab your camera, embrace your artistic spirit, and check your makeup in the mirror before you head out to listen to our review of DEAD AND BURIED (1981).
