And on the third day (well, the third episode of this series), Easter rose again from the dead! For this entry in our EASTER: RESURRECTION series, Nathan, Eric, and returning guest Dan Fleming will take on one of the more commercial aspects of the holiday by analyzing the simple iconography of the Easter basket. And what’s the first movie that comes to mind when you think about baskets? Of course! Frank Henenlotter’s BASKET CASE (1982); the heartwarming horror film about a young man who bonds with his basket-dwelling, hideously deformed twin brother by heading out to the big city on a quest to, you know, viciously seek vengeance upon the people who separated them against their will. Suffice to say that the surprises in this basket are altogether much more unpleasant than the kind you find in your average treat-filled egg. So let out a primal screech of joy and be not afraid, for our review of BASKET CASE is full of sights, sounds, and sweet airs that give delight and hurt not (even if the same can’t be said for the movie itself.)
