We are obsessed with traveling, as you will quickly notice if you follow our podcast or our instagram feed. We believe that travel is worth investing time and money into because as cheesy as it sounds, life is damn short and the world is pretty big. So our motto is: ‘let’s see as much of it as we can before the ride is over!’.

Vegan when traveling?

Some of our favorite destinations have been the furthest, like the central Vietnamese  jungle or remote towns in Southern Taiwan. For 100% of our trips, at least one of us was a plant eater. And for 75% of them, both of us were vegan. The best part is that we have found that there has never been a problem combining our commitment to our food choices with discovering local cultures, flavors and dishes. Not eating all traditional dishes doesn’t mean we are missing out. We have always found a way to compromise, or discover vegan versions of local specialties. Actually, a lot of places we have visited, especially in South East Asia and Europe, make plants the center of the plate.

Brighde Reed took her passion for travel one step further. A dedicated vegan, and a passionate nomad, the Australian entrepreneur decided to launch an all vegan travel company. The idea is precisely to support vegans in their quest for local specialities abroad that combine tradition with their choice to stick to a plant based diet.

Originally, Brighde started working with Colleen Patrick Goudreau, one of the most renowned vegan writers in the US. They organized vegan trips to Europe, Africa and Asia that sold out quickly. Brighde quickly understood there was an interest for this and that being vegan and being a globetrotter are not only compatible, but also highly enjoyable.

In our conversation with Brighde we chat about how to navigate local cultures when traveling as a plant eater abroad, who joins her trips (not only vegans!!) and what her plans are for the future.

We hope this interview inspires you for your 2019 trip planning – we can’t wait to get back on the road and explore some new places this year! What’s on your bucket list??
